Karen received her master’s degree from the TAI SOPHIA Institute in Laurel, MD and has been a licensed acupuncturist since 2001 in Virginia and Maryland. She has national board certification (NCCAOM) and received additional training in Toyo Hari Meridian Therapy in 2002-2003. She has traveled to China several times to observe traditional Chinese medicine.
Karen has treated more than 500 patients during her 12 years of practice for many different types of health concerns and issues including infertility, premenstrual tension and dysmennorhea, depression, anxiety, digestion issues, pain, migraines, allergies, sinus pain, injuries and post-surgery recovery. Karen was the first acupuncturist at Mercy Hospital’s new Complementary Health Care Center from 2001 to 2003. In 2013, Karen was credentialed by Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia as a complementary medicine health care provider for their new alternative medical center. In this new role, Karen’s focus is helping post surgery cancer patients manage their pain without drugs or side-effects. She has also been given permission to treat patients during their stay at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Karen has treatment offices in Fredericksburg, Virginia; and Baltimore, Maryland. A mother of four successful adult children, she lives in Baltimore with her husband, Lawrence and two cats, Simba and Tuxedo.
